Arkansas's Marshawn Powell has won the StatSheet SEC Player of the Week award for the week ending December 10th. StatSheet's SEC Freshman of the Week goes to Archie Goodwin from Kentucky. Also, Missouri's Tony Criswell has received StatSheet's Big 12 6th Man of the Week.
Powell led the SEC in scoring (25.5 pts per game). He also registered respectable numbers with 4.5 rebounds per game, 60% shooting, and 3 assists per game. The Arkansas junior played well in a win against Oklahoma and a loss to Michigan.
Powell led all scoring and rebounding for the Razorbacks with 33 points and 6 rebounds in a close 81-78 win against Oklahoma. He then led all scoring with 18 points and added 3 blocked shots in an 80-67 loss to Michigan.
This is the first time this season that Marshawn Powell has been selected StatSheet SEC Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is Vanderbilt junior Kyle Fuller. Honorable mention goes to sophomore Kedren Johnson from Vanderbilt.
StatSheet SEC Freshman of the Week: Kentucky's Archie Goodwin
Archie Goodwin averaged 29 minutes as a starter for Kentucky. In an 88-56 waxing of Samford, Goodwin led all scoring for the Wildcats with 18 points and also pitched in 3 steals. Then in a massive 74-46 win over Portland, he led scoring with 15 points plus 8 rebounds.
This is a new honor for Archie Goodwin, the first time he has won StatSheet SEC Freshman of the Week. J`Mychal Reese from Texas A&M gets runner-up. Kevin Bright from Vanderbilt takes honorable mention. Michael Carrera was the highest ranking freshman from South Carolina and finished 7th.
StatSheet Big 12 6th Man of the Week: Missouri's Tony Criswell
Tony Criswell, a 6-9 Junior forward, averaged 19 minutes over two games for the Tigers. In an 81-65 win against Southeast Missouri State, Criswell added 13 points on 75% shooting. After that, in a strong 68-38 win over Tennessee State, he racked up 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
This is the first StatSheet SEC 6th Man of the Week award for Tony Criswell. Andrew Young, a junior forward from Texas A&M, is runner up. Our own Bruce Ellington receives honorable mention. South Carolina has yet to win StatSheet SEC Player of the Week.
